Flick – Privacy Policy
Version 1.4 · Effective November 1, 2026
1. General and who we are
This document describes how the Flick app (the "App") handles information, in line with the Israeli Privacy Protection Law, 5741-1981, as amended (including Amendment 13), and its regulations (the "Law"). The App is operated by Ofek Moshe Moshkovitz, exempt dealer, Karmiel, Israel (the "Operator", "we").
Use of the App is also subject to Apple's standard license agreement and to Flick's Terms of Use.
2. The core principle: processing on your device
- The App does not send photos, videos, photo data (metadata), audio recordings or voice transcripts to the Operator or to any third party acting on its behalf.
- Swiping up does not send the photo to Flick. It opens the system share sheet. If you then share, you send that photo yourself to an app you pick.
- All analysis, including detecting similar or duplicate photos, recognizing screenshots and receipts, and calculating storage use, runs on your device using iOS system components.
- The Operator has no user accounts, no user database, and no access to your device or its contents.
Accordingly, the information described in section 3 is stored only on your device, under your control, and is not held by us.
3. What information is processed, and where
| Type of information | Purpose | Where it is kept | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
| Photos and videos in your library, and their details (date, file size, dimensions, media type, camera model) | Display, sorting and swiping, duplicate detection, photo details, calculating space that can be freed | Your device's photo library only. The App reads them; it does not copy or upload them | Not stored by the App, other than a temporary in-memory cache while in use |
| Sorting decisions (delete/keep/favorite/hide), identifiers of photos waiting to be deleted, and the session position | Building the final delete screen, undo, resuming a session after closing the App | Device memory and the App's local storage | Until deletion or the end of the session, or until the App is removed. Actual deletion happens only after you confirm |
| Identifiers of photos you hid | Keeping hidden photos out of the queue in future sessions (the library itself is unchanged) | The App's local storage | Until the App is removed |
| Settings and usage: gestures, cleaning streak, swipe counts, cleaning statistics, resume point, tour/onboarding completion flags | Operating features and continuity | The App's local storage | Until the App is removed |
| Display name and Apple user identifier (if you chose to sign in with Apple) | A personal greeting on the Home screen, and so you can sign out or delete that sign-in | On this device: the App's local storage and the Keychain. The same name and identifier are also kept in your iCloud key-value store so Delete Account can remove them. We do not receive the name, your email, an authorization code, or a token | Until you tap Delete Account in Settings, or until the App is removed |
| Widget data: free/total storage, number of items in the library, a thumbnail of a large photo | Showing the widget | The container shared by the App and the widget on your device (App Group) | Updated with use. Deleted when the App is removed |
| Local analysis results: file size and detection flags (duplicate, receipt, document, blurry, dark) by photo identifier and edit date | A quick storage summary and faster repeat scans | The App's local storage | Updated with use. Deleted when the App is removed |
| Cleaning history: for each day, how many photos you reviewed and deleted and the estimated space freed; the badges you earned; your answer to the question asked after your first clean | The "My Journey" screen, badges, the optional weekly summary notification, and the streak and weekly total in the widget | The App's local storage (the streak and this week's total also in the container shared with the widget) | Until the App is removed |
| Folders you choose from the Files app (including iCloud Drive and other providers): a saved reference (bookmark) to each folder, and the names, sizes and dates of the files in it. To find duplicate files, the App also reads file contents on the device to compare them | Listing large, old, duplicate and unnecessary files, and deleting them or removing local copies, for the files you choose | The reference: the App's local storage. File details and comparison results: device memory only, while the screen is open | The reference until you remove the folder in the App or remove the App. The rest is not kept |
| Text in screenshots, recognized on the device with iOS text recognition | Marking screenshots that contain text, and creating a PDF or text file only when you choose to save them through the iOS share sheet | A "contains text" flag in the App's local storage. The recognized text itself is not kept | Updated with use. Deleted when the App is removed |
This information does not allow us to identify you, and we do not receive it. Photos may contain personal or sensitive information (for example images of people, documents and receipts); because they never leave the device, we have no access to them. Your answers to the introductory questions are kept in memory only and are not stored.
The cleaning history, badges and weekly summary are calculated on your device from your own actions in the App and are not sent to us or to anyone else.
4. Permissions on your device
- Access to your photo library: necessary for the App to work and for deleting what you choose. Deletion happens only after confirmation in the iOS prompt, and deleted photos move to "Recently Deleted" according to system settings. On Android, deletion happens only after you confirm on the review screen and then in Android’s own prompt. The photos move to the phone’s trash. Android usually keeps them for about 30 days and then deletes them permanently. The exact time depends on the phone. When the phone reports an end date, Flick shows it. Flick does not promise a date the phone did not give. Restore, where the phone allows it, asks Android to put the item back. If you use iCloud Photos, a deletion may also update your other Apple devices.
- Microphone and speech recognition: only if you explicitly turn on voice-controlled cleaning. Recognition runs on the device only and the audio is not sent to a server. If on-device recognition isn't supported for your language or device, the feature won't run.
- Notifications: if you allow them, a daily "On This Day" reminder that is created and scheduled locally on the device.
- Changes the App makes to your library at your request: marking a photo as a favorite when you double-tap it (undo removes the mark; on Android the system asks you to confirm), and saving a new version (a compressed video, a still from a Motion Photo or Live Photo, a converted RAW photo) before the original goes to the delete screen. Swiping up opens the system share sheet. If you send the photo, it goes to the app you choose. Flick does not receive that copy and does not upload it. No original is deleted without your confirmation in the iOS prompt.
- Folders from the Files app: the App sees only folders you pick in the system picker, and you can remove any of them in the App at any time. Deleting a file in a cloud folder (for example iCloud Drive or Dropbox) also deletes it in that cloud. "Remove from iPhone" for iCloud Drive files frees local space and keeps the file in iCloud.
- More notifications: a weekly reminder to empty "Recently Deleted" and, if you turn it on, a weekly summary of the space you freed. Both are created and scheduled on the device and can be turned off in the App's settings.
You can change or revoke any permission at any time in iOS Settings. Revoking photo access prevents the App from working.
5. Apple services and third parties
The App uses Apple services only, and these are governed by Apple's privacy policy, not the Operator's:
- App Store and StoreKit: purchasing a subscription or one-time purchase, trial period, restoring purchases. Payment is handled entirely by Apple. We never see or store a payment method, and entitlement is verified with Apple on the device.
- Sign in with Apple: optional. The App stores the display name and Apple's user identifier on this device (local storage and the Keychain) and in your iCloud key-value store. It does not store an authorization code or a refresh token, and it has no server that receives them. Sign Out and Delete Account in Settings erase this data. There is no Flick account on a server.
- iCloud Photos: if a photo is stored in the cloud and isn't available on the device, iOS may download it from iCloud in order to display it. That download is between your device and Apple only.
- Shared cleaning (SharePlay): if you choose to use it in a FaceTime call, delete/keep decisions and internal photo identifiers (not the photos themselves) are sent to the other participants through Apple's services.
- Crash reports and usage data: if you enabled sharing with developers in iOS settings, Apple may give us aggregated, non-identifying data. We do not link it to you.
- Legal documents inside the App: when this policy or the Terms of Use open inside the App, the page is loaded from the Operator's hosting service (GitHub Pages) like any website, and the host may log an IP address. We receive no data from the App in this context.
The App contains no third-party software development kits (SDKs) for analytics, advertising or tracking, and does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA). Accordingly, the App does not request tracking permission (ATT).
6. Transfers outside Israel
The Operator does not transfer personal data outside Israel. Processing by Apple, as described in section 5, is carried out by Apple as an independent party under its own privacy policy and is not a transfer made on our behalf.
The flick-legal website: if you open this policy or the Terms of Use in a browser, the site is hosted by GitHub Pages (GitHub, Inc., USA), which may log your IP address. Inside the App these documents load from the device and make no network request.
7. Information security
Not collecting data on servers is our main security measure. Local data is protected by iOS sandboxing and encryption, and at the level your device is protected (passcode, system updates). We recommend locking your device and keeping the operating system up to date. Every information system is exposed to risk, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Retention and deletion
The Operator keeps no information about you. Local data stays on your device until you remove the App, at which point it is deleted. Delete Account in Settings erases the Sign in with Apple name and user identifier from this iPhone, the Keychain, and your iCloud key-value store. That does not delete your photos or your App Store purchases. Some data (for example streaks and statistics) can be reset by removing and reinstalling. Invoices and payment records are kept by Apple alone, in accordance with its obligations.
9. Your rights
Under the Law, you are entitled to inspect information about you held in a database and to request its correction or deletion. Because the Operator holds no information about you, there is nothing for us to provide, correct or delete. You control local data directly: by changing settings, revoking permissions, or removing the App. If you believe we hold information about you, contact us at the email in section 14 and we will reply within 30 days.
Requests concerning your Apple ID, purchases or iCloud should be directed to Apple.
10. Cancelling a subscription and refunds
Managing a subscription, cancellation and refunds are described in the Terms of Use (Subscriptions and purchases). Refund requests are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com and do not affect your rights under the Israeli Consumer Protection Law, 5741-1981.
11. Minors
The App is intended for people aged 13 and over. A minor under 18 may use it with the consent of a parent or guardian, and purchases by minors are subject to Apple's parental controls (for example Ask to Buy). We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13, and we hold no such information on servers.
12. Database
To the best of our understanding, and because the information is not held by us, we are not required to register a database or appoint a privacy protection officer. If that changes, we will update this policy and take the required steps.
13. Users outside Israel
The App is available in several languages and countries. Because the Operator neither collects nor holds personal data about users, there is no information to access, correct, port or delete, including under data protection laws that apply where you live (such as the GDPR in the European Union). If you believe information about you is held, contact us and we will respond in accordance with the applicable law. Your right to complain to your local supervisory authority is preserved.
14. Contact
For questions, requests or inquiries about privacy: support@flickcleaner.app. You may also contact the Privacy Protection Authority at the Israeli Ministry of Justice.
15. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy from time to time, for example when features are added. The effective date at the top will be updated, and for a material change, especially if collection of information not described here begins, we will notify you in the App before the change takes effect and ask for your consent where required. Before we add a feature that processes information outside your device, or biometric information (for example face recognition), we will update this policy and ask for your consent.
16. Language
The Hebrew and English versions of these documents are the binding ones. Versions in other languages are courtesy translations that have not yet been legally reviewed. If a translation differs from them, the Hebrew version prevails for users in Israel and the English version prevails for everyone else. This does not affect mandatory consumer protections that apply under the law of your place of residence.
17. Governing law
This document is governed by Israeli law. Jurisdiction is as set out in the Terms of Use.
This is the same policy shown inside the app (version 1.4).
